Jesus told them what was going to happen. He told them about His arrest. He told them about His crucifixion. He told them about His resurrection. But they didn’t understand it. They had no idea what He was talking about. But they loved Him enough to follow Him.
So many times we think we need to understand everything aboug God before we can follow Him or do great things for Him. Yet Jesus’ own disciples didn’t understand what Jesus said and certainly didn’t understand that He was going to be killed and would rise again. They still followed Him, though. Despite not understanding, they continued to trust Him and follow Him.
I don’t think any of us understands (or even can understand) fully the meaning of Jesus’ death and resurrection. There still remains mystery. But God isn’t calling us to understand, He wants us to follow. When we love and trust Him, we don’t need to understand everything. We just need to follow Him.
