So yesterday I had my draft with the league my brother Ray manages. We’ve run this league for about 7 years or so with a pretty good core of friends who, like my brothers and I, attended Waltrip High School (hence the name). I’ve done good and I’ve done bad over the course of the time, averaging out in the middle of the pack. I’m hoping this year will bring a little better luck. Here’s the team I drafted in our live draft that includes individual defensive players. By draw of a card I ended up 11th out of 12, but I think I still ended up with a decent squad
QB Donovan McNabb – 4th round. Solid QB who should produce decent numbers.
RB Chris Johnson – My 1st round pick. Should get good carries as long as the passing game holds up.
RB Derrick Ward – 3rd round. Good draw for a 2nd RB. Big back who will get the goal line carries.
WR Andre Johnson – 2nd round. Should produce 1st round numbers. Praying that Shaub doesn’t get hurt.
WR Dwayne Bowe – 5th round. Bowe is the top receiver on pass happy KC. Needs to catch passes thrown to him, though.
TE Dustin Keller – 6th round. The 2nd option in the passing game for the Jets.
K Jason Elam – 15th round. He’s a kicker. There are 32 in the league. He’s one of them.
D-player James Farrior – 11th round. A quality LB who will get his tackles.
DL Trent Cole - 14th round. Don’t know much about him, but came decently ranked in my guide.
DB Brandon Meriweather – 12th round. Hope he gets me a couple interceptions to go along with good tackle numbers.
LB London Fletcher – 10th round. Great LB in the past. Hope he can still play to the same level.
Backup WR Lee Evans – 7th round. Starter quality in the backup role. Could have a breakout year.
Backup QB Carson Palmer – 8th round. Could be my starter if the receivers play nice together. Lots of potential.
Backup RB Jonathan Stewart – 9th round. Should get goal line carries and might work into the starter role.
Backup RB Julius Jones - 13th round. If healthy, he could see a lot of carries in a new run happy offense.
That’s it – what do you think?
