God,
As much as our souls long for you, we still fail to live fully in your will. Why is it so tough for us to remain in you? The gentle current of life often lulls us into believing that we have everything under control. We float so slowly away that it’s not until we are in the rapids of turmoil that we realize that we are no longer anchored. Thank you that you save us when we call.
God create within us a sense of your divine presence. Make us sensitive to your desire that we may see the warnings and keep from wandering into sin. Help us to stay anchored in the easy times that we may have your strength for the storms of life.
Even today Lord, we need you to save us. Pull us back into your will that we may find rest in you. May our hearts be fed by your love, that in you alone we might have life. Grant us, Holy Spirit, Your presence, that we might have peace in knowing you are here. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.

Kayla’s prayer
Every morning before I leave for work our family gets together to pray. We ask what each of us wants to pray for and then we pray together. Usually I pray for all of us, but the past 2 days we have each prayed, including my precious little girl, Kayla, who is 3 1/2.
I’m always blessed to hear her “talk to God.” Today her prayer was for Krystal’s (my wife) neck, which had a crick in it and for it to rain this afternoon for the flowers. Her words are always so simple and selfless. I pray that she will always be this way.

Father God, thank you for the blessing of Kayla. She is such a sweet little girl who has a beautiful heart that you have created. Her words to you are an inspiration to me – she speaks to you not as a genie granting wishes but as a little girl asking her daddy to help her live. Please continue to shower your Holy Spirit on her that she may always know the blessing of your love. Amen.
Chuy’s Prayers
I ate at Chuy’s recently (when it rained) and their silverware comes packaged in a wax paper bag with a flower on one side and the following 3 prayers in the other:
Catholic
Bless us, O Lord, and these Thy gifts, which we are about to receive from Thy Bounty. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Protestant
Bless, O Lord, this food to our use, and us to thy service, and make us ever mindful of the needs of others, in Jesus Name. Amen.
Jewish
Lift up your hands toward the sanctuary and bless the Lord. Blessed art Thou, O Lord our God, King of the universe, who bringest forth bread from the earth. Amen.
I guess Muslims and Hindus are on their own?
Thankful for the Rain
Last night I experienced what has recently become a strange and infrequent occurance – moisture in the upper atmosphere formed into clouds, cooled and condensed together, and came falling to the earth in the form of liquid precipitation.
Miracles never cease.
What was particularly funny is that I and my family decided to go out to eat in the middle of this pouring rain. And despite the fact that I was thankful for it, I found myself thinking, “Why now, Lord? Couldn’t the rain wait for the nighttime when I’m asleep in bed?”
Am I so selfish that I would complain about God’s blessing because it doesn’t come in my time frame? Apparently I’m not too far off.

Father God, I don’t understand my heart. How can I be so in love with you and longing for your presence one minute, then turn to myself the next? What is it about me that doesn’t want to let you control the world much less my life? Change my heart, O God. Give me a heart for you alone that my desire would be for your blessing in your time. Amen.
