Presidential Endorsement

Now I wouldn’t normally endorse a candidate for president, but when I heard the following argument for why this candidate was qualified, I knew she was just who I want to see in the oval office!  Her argument – “I woud [would] be a good president because I have a dog.  Also because my little brotr [brother] faloses [follows] me arond [around].”  How can you get any better than that! (In a spirit of full disclosure, she’s also my 6 yr old daughter, Kayla!)

Hurricane Ike damage

While my home suffered no damage from Ike, the same cannot be said of my mom’s house.  There are 2 trees down in their backyard and a neighbor’s tree fell into the house, punching 4 holes in the roof – two farily large ones!  Here are a couple of pictures from the destruction.

Go God!!

Shout to the LORD, all the earth; break out in praise and sing for joy! – Psalm 98:4

Our son, Wesley, is the definition of a two year old boy.  He doesn’t walk anywhere – he runs.  Or, rather, he jumps.  He approaches everything in life with full gusto.  Playing with blocks?  Wesley can play with all of them at the same time.  Playing ball with the dog?  Wes will run ole Zeeb around the house until he drops.  Bothering your sister?  Yes, even that he does with all his strength.  (Sometimes being a parent of a two year old isn’t what it was cracked up to be.)

When we pray as a family, even then Wesley gives his all.  He doesn’t say much while we are praying, but when we’ve all said amen, Wes stands up, throws his hands up in the air, and shouts, “Go God!!”  What a great way to finish up a prayer!  It’s both a plea to God (‘Go before me in my life, Lord!’) and a shout of celebration (‘Way to go, God!’)  It’s a reflection of the passion that God gives even to little children.

I may not have all the energy that Wesley has to jump from couch to floor for 30 minutes straight, but I hope I always have the energy to give praise to God.  May I live a life that shouts praise!
